Another Sneak Peek at Doll Days!

Another Sneak Peek at Doll Days!

I’ve been doing a little of this and that over the last week or so. Teaching keeps me a bit busy. Had a great time at my local quilt guild meeting last week and we  have our Willamette Piece Makers youth guild meeting this week, so I’m working on that prep, too.

I’m excited to finally cut into these beauties! I’m making a lap size quilt for our couch…clearly we don’t have enough quilts for movie nights (I have been told numerous times!).

I just got word that my book Doll Days! has gone to the printers!!! [Squeee!] I am sooo excited to see it in print. I hope all my creations are shown in the book, but just in case….here are 2 outfits I made as examples of how easy my patterns are to embellish for fresh looks.

The not-so-basic Vintage Party Dress can easily become your “Go-to” dress pattern for sure. Don’t you just love a well-fitting pattern?!

It has an elegant scoop neckline (not too low 🙂 ) and the optional collar pattern is included. The small puffy sleeves can be finished 4 different ways (all tutorials are included in the book). In this example the sleeves  are done with a rolled hem with my traditional machine (tutorial in the book), and elastic…giving it a feminine look that is a true to scale result. In the book I show you just how to create these quick and easy sleeve finishes.

I added a velvet ribbon at the waistline for that extra touch.

Next sneak peek is the Scallop Hem Skirt (project: Classic Skirt View A)…this is so fun! I added a velvet ribbon along the hem line with a small bow, offset to the side. This picture was taken in a hurry…I really should have helped Grace adjust her collar and blouse, but it was getting close to my deadline and I had to get the clothes shipped to the publisher.

It’s shown with the Button-Down Shirt (the easy View A version) and I omitted the buttons for a hidden lapel design look. I chose to finish the sleeves with the finishing method given with View B of the Vintage Party Dress pattern. Poor Grace looks like she’s falling, but I assure you…no doll was harmed in the making of this book or photo.

I hope you enjoy these previews. I can’t wait to see all the unique creations and embellishments you guys come up with after receiving your copies.

Get ready to sew and share this summer! I’m talking with sponsors to put together some really great prizes for our weekly drawings. I think we will start mid-June for the Doll Days! Sew and Share online event. This event will run simultaneously with my Sew in Style Summer Sewing Club event for kids, so it will be a wonderful opportunity to sew with your young friends and create together and make special memories ♥clip-art-snoopy-746415
