Sewing Campers Get Stitching
This afternoon, Amanda from Kansas sent me an email. She was having an issue while sewing her first project from Sew in Style sewing book for kids. She sent along a picture and I saw right away what had happened. She was doing a terrific job, and I was very impressed with her. I was impressed because she was doing 2 really important things:
1. She was making sure her project looked like the ones in the photo tutorial in the book as she sewed each step. She was able to catch her mistake right away, because at step 3, her project didn’t look like the step 3 in the book.
2. She didn’t keep going. She stopped and tried to figure it out.
And when she couldn’t figure it out, she asked for help. It’s always good to be with help. And I will always answer emails or questions in the comments here if you need help!
So what happened? Amanda missed part of the instructions. That’s all. It was a super easy fix. A little help from her friend the seam ripper and she was able to re-do step 3 completely without any trouble. A few hours later she emailed me a picture of her completed project. It looks fabulous! Way to go Amanda!
Isn’t that so cute?! I also love the fabric she used.
I also received a nice email from another camper, Kara from Florida. She made the “Messenger Bag” project from her Sew in Style book and shared a picture with me. Here’s her messenger bag on her Julie Doll.
Kara wrote that she went “shopping” for the fabric in her Grandmother’s stash and her grandmother helped her to iron her project, but she did all the sewing herself. How fun! Her doll messenger bag looks amazing!
Thank you Kara and Amanda for sharing your projects. You both did a great sewing job! You will both be entered into this week’s prize drawing 🙂
Some reminders for all campers:
make sure you read all the instructions for each step, do each step carefully, and check that your project matches the pictures for each step in the book.
Have fun and keep sewing! Send in your photos–we love seeing all your lovely projects!
