Week 7 Entries

This week the Sewing Bee challengers were asked to make bucket hats for their 18″ dolls, such as American Girl Dolls. They used my Avery Lane Bucket Hat pattern for 18″ dolls (it’s also available in Doll Studio Boutique for the smaller dolls). They were allowed to modify the brim piece and embellish however they wanted.

The outfit could be a newly sewn outfit or they could make a bucket hat to match an outfit that they had made previously. This week, we will be judging all pieces submitted, with emphasis on their hats.

These are all adorable hats and outfits! Take a look:

Alida made a floral and Broderie Anglaise (eyelet) fabric, adding some lace and rick rack for decoration.
For the outfit, Alida made the Camp Shorts and Button-down Shirt from Doll Days!
Andee made a denim and yellow lined/reversible bucket hat with rick rack embellishment and traditional top stitching detail to the brim.
For the rest of the ensemble, Andee made Camp Shorts, Button-down Shirt, and Camisole from Doll Days! Sew an Everyday Wardrobe for 18″ Dolls
Diana made a Bucket hat in a cotton print featuring miniature umbrellas and tiny multi-colored raindrops, and to resemble ribbon, added a fabric trim, which has multi-colored dots to co-ordinate with the raindrops on the white fabric. Embellished with a gathered embellishment from Doll Dress Boutique, and two fabric covered buttons, one in the front and one in the back.
For the the outfit, Diana made the Fitted Tee from Sew in Style using a cotton knit and decorated with three pink buttons.  The two tiered skirt with belt loops and Handbag are from Me and My 18″ Doll.
Gayle made a cotton floral reversible Bucket Hat with polka dot lining, with traditional top stitching details on the brim.
The outfit is the Ice Cream Social dress pattern from Doll Dress Boutique.
Janet made a cotton floral and green Bucket Hat, embellishing it with satin ribbon and fabric flower, using the tutorial in the pattern, and finished it with a decorative metal button.
For the outfit, Janet used the Classic Sleeveless Dress from Doll Dress Boutique.

Aren’t these all adorable outfits! Want to make a bucket hat for your doll? You can purchase the hat pattern in my AveryLane Etsy shop here.

Doll Studio Boutique has the same bucket hat pattern for the smaller dolls.

Now for the judging to begin. Pop back in the next day or two to see the results!
