Spring Sewing
Working on my submission for the spring/summer issue of Too Cute Doll Designs magazine with the theme “summer camp” has me thinking about our online summer sew and share event…it’s going to be so fun to see what everyone sews for their dolls. I can’t share my project for the magazine yet, but I can share the matching outfit that I made for Grace (American Girl Doll) to model.
The patterns for this outfit are from my new sewing book Doll Days! The projects in the book are called: Modern Camp Shorts and Crochet Lace Top.
I made Grace a camp name tag, too. The shorts are a moda print that I had left over from a quilt I finished last week. I will share that on Monday next week.
I’ve also been planning a little sewing for myself. I haven’t sewn clothes for myself in a little over a year, which is a long time for me. I found these yummy voile fabrics, and a super soft jersey knit. Now to wash them and get stitching! I’ve been wanting to make myself this Ottobre blouse for some time, so I’m super excited to get started.
I may do a sew along for the blog while sewing the Ottobre blouse. It depends on how the lighting is when I find time to sew. Oregon weather is somewhat unpredictable. The forecast for this past weekend was “crazy weather patterns” –which I suppose means 1 day it will be cold, windy, and lots of heavy rain, and the next it’ll be sunny and warm (mid-50’s). We’re on our fourth day of this wacky weather pattern.
