Hand Sewing for Kids, ages 6 and up

Learn to sew by hand and make a fun wool felt project.

Beginning Sewing, ages 7 and up

Learn to sew with a sewing machine: how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin, sew with a seam allowance, and make a simple project. Students will complete a Seams and Samples Workbook that will teach them all the basic sewing skills needed to sew many beginning projects. We will complete at least 3 simple sewing projects together in this 4  3-hour class program (12 hours total), which is process focused and utilizes a hands-on learning approach through the workbook. In addition, students will reinforce their skills through sewing projects and develop a firm foundation in sewing.

Bring your own machine or rent one to use during class ($15 per session). Call to sign up for class notifications by calling or stopping by the shop.

Location:

Fall classes: Dates TBD.

Sewing Club, ages 8 and up

(Open Sew Style Class)

Prerequisite: Beginning Sewing Class. Students taking this class have just completed the Beginning Program, with Student Workbook Class with Erin, and want to sew more.

Students who have a basic understanding of how to operate their sewing machine (threading, winding a bobbin, and change stitch selections on their machine), are becoming familiar with different sewing techniques and terms, and have sewn 3-5 projects, such as a tote bag, pillowcase, or drawstring bag, are also welcome to join.

Sewing Levels: Confident Beginner to Intermediate

This class is designed for students who have just finished or have completed Beginning Sewing Program. Perfect for students who want to continue to develop their sewing skills, and have specific things in mind that they would like to sew. Students choose their sewing projects during class from wide range of projects, or can discuss potential projects and patterns to use.

Students choosing to sew garment will need to plan and prepare ahead of time. Many projects are available but fabric must be brought and prewashed before the class in order to start that project.

Note:

Students who have already learned the basics and want to continue sewing can join this class. I will guide the students who are just starting out with appropriate projects within their skill level that will both reinforce skills they have already learned, while learning new skills and techniques.  Students can choose from many beginning projects, which range from Beginner to Intermediate sewing levels.

Projects will be based on the student interests and skill levels.  We usually have 2 or 3 projects being sewn during each class. Kids who have been in sewing club for several sessions may bring in pattern and supplies of their choice. Be sure to email me with any questions, to make sure the student has what they need to get started during class.
