New! Hand Sewing for Kids, ages 6 and up

Learn to sew by hand and make a fun felt project.  $30 Materials fee includes everything your child needs to sew his or her project.

Fall Class:

Friday, December 9, 1:30 to 5pm (click to register)

Friday, March 3, 1:30 to 5 pm (click to register)

Beginning Sewing, ages 8 and up

Learn to sew with a sewing machine, like how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin, sew with a seam allowance, and make a simple project. Students will complete a Seams and Samples Work Book that will teach them basic sewing skills needed to sew many beginning projects. We will complete 2 simple sewing projects together on the second and third days.

Fall Session:

Sewing Club, ages 8 and up

Prerequisite:Beginning Sewing Class. Students taking this class must know how to thread their machine, wind a bobbin, know how to operate a sewing machine, and have sewn a simple project on their machine, such as a tote bag, pillowcase, skirt, or drawstring bag.

Sewing Levels: Confident Beginner to Intermediate

Continuing students can join the Sewing Club. This class is designed for students who want to continue to develop their sewing skills. Students choose their sewing projects during class from wide range of projects. Projects range from hair accessories, backpacks, zipper bags and coin purses, journal covers, room decor, and many projects that make great gifts. Projects are always being added throughout the year.

Projects will be based on the student interests and skill levels.  We usually have 2 or 3 projects being sewn each class. Kids who have been in sewing club for several sessions may bring in pattern and supplies of their choice. Be sure to email me with any questions.

Fashion Sewing Class, ages 9 and up

Prerequisite: This is a class for students who know all the sewing basics very well and want to learn to sew clothes.

Sewing levels: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate.

We will sew clothes in this sewing class. Students will learn to sew clothing based on their skill level with the guidance from the instructor in a fun and supportive environment, using store-bought patterns. Students will start by sewing a pair of PJ Pants or Shorts on the first day. We will then sew an A-line Skirt.

 

Sew for your Doll Class, ages 8 and up

Prerequisite: Beginning Sewing class.  Students taking this class must know how to thread their machine, wind a bobbin, know how to operate a sewing machine, and have sewn a simple project on their machine, such as a tote bag, pillowcase, or drawstring bag.

Sewing Levels: Confident Beginner to Intermediate

Come and sew for your 18″ dolls using the patterns from my book,  Sew in Style-Make Your Own Doll Clothes   (Signed copies available here )  and Avery Lane Patterns.  Intermediate and advanced students will have the choice of sewing from my new book, Doll Days! Sew an Everyday Wardrobe for 18 inch Dolls

 

Mini Quilt Camp

Come join our Quilting Class.  We’ll spend several afternoons sewing a small quilt as you learn the basic quilting skills, or improve your quilting skills. These small quilts make perfect doll quilts, mug rugs, snack place mats, or wall hanging /room decor.  They also make great gifts!

Enrolled students will contact me and choose the design that they would like to sew. Pictures of quilts can be seen on the sewing club project page (scroll to the bottom). Quilt kits are available.

Students must have basic sewing skills to enroll.

Please note: no flannel, please.

*Machines are available for students to rent, for use during camps and group classes. The cost is $10-15 per session.
