A Call for Pattern Testers

I’m looking to add a tester or 2 to my list.  Are you interested in becoming a pattern tester?

Patterns are pretty much  for doll clothes, specifically 18 inch dolls sized similarly to American Girl Dolls. Pattern difficulty is usually beginner to intermediate. Time frame for testing a pattern is usually a week or so.

Pattern tester-your role and what is expected:

What is your initial response/reaction to the pattern/design?

Agree to make the pattern, following the material list and the step by step instructions, informing me of any steps that may be unclear.

Sew and complete the project within the time frame designated, usually 7 days for doll clothes patterns. This is determined by complexity of the pattern itself.

Have a sewing skill level of at least a confident beginner sewist to intermediate sewist.

Must own or have easy access an 18 inch doll that is similar in size to the American Girl Doll. It is not necessary for testers to own AG brand, I like to have a variety of brands to check the fit on other brands.

Be honest. Constructive criticism is extremely helpful, but please be kind. I do have feelings and before sending my patterns to testers, I have usually spent at least a month working on the pattern itself (many months are sometimes spent on designing before the pattern is even started). I try hard to make it a success, but I am human and make mistakes. Your feedback ultimately can help other sewists sew the pattern with confidence and without frustrations.

Submit a formal review once project has been completely sewn. Questionnaire  will be provided.

Provide a  quality photo(s) of the finished project (without watermarks or other writing) along with the completed questionnaire, within the testing deadline given.

While testing the pattern, testers agree to not discuss or share the pattern with others. This includes not posting pictures of your project until its formal release or announcement by me.

This is an unpaid role. This helps to retain the integrity of this role. Your compensation will be my most sincerest thanks and an electronic copy of the final published pattern.

Does this sound like something you would enjoy doing? Send me an email at Erin [at] AveryLaneSewing [dot] com . Please include your sewing level, whether or not you have sewn with knit fabrics, what type of 18″ dolls you own or have access to, and a link to or photo of some of your doll clothes.

If chosen as a tester, you will be emailed an agreement to print, sign, and send back to me. You will then need to join an Avery Lane Patterns facebook private group for testers.

UPDATE:

Thank you to all who responded! I am still going through the emails and will reply to everyone soon.
